Indian e-conference visas are given for workshops held in India to discuss a particular subject or for international seminars or conferences. The Indian missions are responsible for issuing these visas to delegates.
However, before the e-conference visa is issued, the delegates should produce an invitation letter to the seminar/conference or workshop organized by the NGOs/private institutions, government-owned institutions, UN, Specialized agencies, any Ministry or department of the Indian government, or UT administrations.
You can apply for a conference visa in case you intend to visit India to participate in a conference/ seminar/ exhibition in India on a specific invitation.

General Visa Information
It is advisable to apply for visa well in advance, but not earlier than 3 months before the date of the Congress.
Foreign visitors entering India must possess a passport valid for at least 6 months after their date of entry into India, except in the case of nationals of Bhutan and Nepal, who need only carry suitable means of identification.
If approved, a single-entry Conference Visa will be granted. Please note that the validity of a visa begins on the day it is issued. The date of entry into India not affect the period of validity of a visa.
Online Visa Application
Many Indian Embassies, Consulates and High Commissions, including the High Commission of India in London, now require visa applications to be made online. The can be done from the Indian Government website:

Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival is only for Japan and South Korea at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports.
